The flowering forecast of Japan Meteorological Corporation estimates the start of cherry blossoms season and when the flowers will reach their bloom. According to its 8th forecast of 2025, cherry blossoms in Kyoto are predicted to bloom on March 30th.

Shosei-en Garden

Shoseien Garden, part of Higashi Honganji Temple, has quite a long history. During the Edo period, it served as a reception area for guests visiting the temple. In modern times, it is often used as a filming location for TV dramas and movies.
The garden is renowned for its beautiful cherry blossoms in the spring and vibrant colors in the autumn. From there you can also see Kyoto Tower in the distance.

Gion Shirakawa

The red bridge over the Shirakawa River, surrounded by townhouses and traditional restaurants, is a standout feature of the area. It's a well-known spot where maiko and geisha often pass by.

In spring, the cherry blossoms, stretching along the river, add a magical touch to an already beautiful place. In the evenings, the illuminations light up, making it the perfect setting for a memorable photo.

Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Yasaka area

The last but not least areas we will introduce are Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Yasaka Pagoda.

Kiyomizu-dera Temple is one of spectacular Buddhist temples and is registered as UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Nearby stands Yasaka Pagoda, the symbol of Higashiyama, where you can capture the iconic photos often seen in travel brochures.
